Fall 2003 ||--> Capturing the Sacred in the Machine

Marjan Moghaddam's print series "Digital Entities" touches upon the philosophical question of whether technological progress is ultimately good or evil. In her invented futuristic mythology, miraculous beings have evolved from everyday technology and machinery, like video games and telephones. Moghaddam's inspired iconography pairs the evolved beatific beings with the technology and machinery of their origin, celebrating the machine in a series of worshipful Adorations. Her image "Adoration of the Telephone: Speak to Me" was recognized at Siggraph 2003 and more images in the series can be viewed here.
